About this dashboard

Equity Portfolio Dashboard summarizes position-level holdings and portfolio-level performance for a 10-stock portfolio. It brings together shares, cost basis, current value, unrealized gain or loss, portfolio weights, sector allocation, and allocation drift so concentration and diversification can be reviewed in one view.

Outputs include price returns, dividends, contributions, withdrawals, realized and unrealized gains, IRR, CAGR, volatility, Sharpe ratio, management fees, transaction costs, and capital gains tax on realized trades. The supporting workbook contains entry prices, dividend yields, expected returns, targets, and trading assumptions; the dashboard presents the resulting performance and risk outputs.

Use the dashboard for quarterly reporting, rebalancing decisions, concentration reviews, and active-versus-passive analysis. Test target allocations and trading assumptions to examine how portfolio changes affect return, risk, tax, and cost outcomes over the modeled period. Compare portfolio results with the stated benchmark context when assessing active risk and reward.

What every dashboard includes

Live formulas, no hardcoded values

Outputs are driven by live formulas, so the workbook updates from its assumptions instead of relying on hardcoded results.

All assumptions in one tab

Inputs are clearly marked in the Assumptions tab and separated from calculations, making it clear what to change and what to leave intact.

Statements always balancing

For integrated-statement models, the balance sheet, cash flow, and supporting schedules tie through properly.

Distinct schedules for clarity

Debt, working capital, taxes, and cash flow can get messy quickly. We group calculations in clear schedules, not across disconnected tabs.

No hidden macros or external links

There are no unexplained external workbook links or macros to undermine auditability or portability.

Changes flow through the model

Update a key driver and see the impact carry through the forecast, financing, and return outputs. We never use hardcoded numbers in formulas.

Alex Tapio, ex-Deloitte financial modelling expert

Created by ex-finance professionals

Hey, I’m Alex and I created Finamodel.

Over my years in the finance industry I kept building the same models over and over again. Same structure, same assumptions, different logo. So I started building frameworks to turn them into clean, reusable templates.

Every model here is one I’d actually use for a client, and I personally vet each one before it goes up.

I’m not an expert in every industry, but I’ve built enough models to know what belongs in one. And when something is completely foreign to me, I reach out to my network for experts to work on our models with us.

Having a template library on hand cuts a first build from hours to minutes.

Frequently asked

What holdings are tracked?+

The model tracks a 10-stock portfolio using position symbols, shares, entry prices, cost basis, current value, expected annual return, dividend yield, and allocation assumptions. The dashboard rolls those inputs into position and portfolio outputs.

Which performance measures are shown?+

The dashboard shows price returns, dividend income, portfolio flows, IRR, CAGR, volatility, and Sharpe ratio. It also presents gains and losses, fees, transaction costs, and realized capital gains tax effects.

How are realized and unrealized gains treated?+

Capital gains tax applies to realized gains from shares sold during modeled trades. Paper gains that remain unrealized are not taxed in the calculation, keeping the tax treatment distinct from mark-to-market performance.

What does allocation drift indicate?+

Allocation drift measures how market movements change position weights relative to target allocations. The dashboard uses those weights to highlight concentration and diversification changes that may prompt a rebalancing review.

Can I evaluate rebalancing costs?+

Yes. Set target allocations and trading assumptions in the supporting workbook to model rebalancing. The dashboard incorporates realized gains, capital gains tax, management fees, and transaction costs into the resulting portfolio returns.
