About this dashboard

The PE Fund Dashboard brings fund-level cash flow and investor economics into one view. It surfaces capital calls, investment deployment, realized distributions, management fees, and the outputs LPs and GPs use to assess performance: TVPI, DPI, RVPI, net IRR, and portfolio-company IRR and MOIC.

The supporting workbook includes GP and LP waterfall logic with preferred return, catch-up, and carried interest, plus schedules for calls and distributions across the fund life. Fee assumptions include recycling and offset options. Portfolio-company tracking feeds aggregation into fund-level return measures, while the cash flow schedule makes the J-curve visible through the investment period and realizations.

Use the dashboard for fund formation analysis, fee and waterfall scenario review, LP reporting, and lifecycle planning. It supports fund-level aggregation where a deal model would be too narrow. Return outputs depend on capital, fee, distribution, portfolio, and waterfall assumptions, including the selected carried-interest mechanics.

What every dashboard includes

Live formulas, no hardcoded values

Outputs are driven by live formulas, so the workbook updates from its assumptions instead of relying on hardcoded results.

All assumptions in one tab

Inputs are clearly marked in the Assumptions tab and separated from calculations, making it clear what to change and what to leave intact.

Statements always balancing

For integrated-statement models, the balance sheet, cash flow, and supporting schedules tie through properly.

Distinct schedules for clarity

Debt, working capital, taxes, and cash flow can get messy quickly. We group calculations in clear schedules, not across disconnected tabs.

No hidden macros or external links

There are no unexplained external workbook links or macros to undermine auditability or portability.

Changes flow through the model

Update a key driver and see the impact carry through the forecast, financing, and return outputs. We never use hardcoded numbers in formulas.

Alex Tapio, ex-Deloitte financial modelling expert

Created by ex-finance professionals

Hey, I’m Alex and I created Finamodel.

Over my years in the finance industry I kept building the same models over and over again. Same structure, same assumptions, different logo. So I started building frameworks to turn them into clean, reusable templates.

Every model here is one I’d actually use for a client, and I personally vet each one before it goes up.

I’m not an expert in every industry, but I’ve built enough models to know what belongs in one. And when something is completely foreign to me, I reach out to my network for experts to work on our models with us.

Having a template library on hand cuts a first build from hours to minutes.

Need help finding your model? You’ll find me in the Finamodel app!

Frequently asked

What does the PE Fund Dashboard show?+

It shows fund-level capital calls, investment deployment, realized distributions, management fees, and return measures including TVPI, DPI, RVPI, and net IRR. Portfolio-company IRR and MOIC provide supporting detail for the aggregated fund view.

What waterfall mechanics are included?+

The workbook includes GP and LP waterfall logic with a preferred return, catch-up, and carried interest. Resulting allocations flow into fund cash-flow and investor-return outputs under the selected waterfall assumptions.

How are fees represented?+

Management fee logic includes recycling and offset options. These assumptions affect cash available for investment and the economics shown in fund-level schedules, so fee terms can be reviewed alongside calls, deployment, distributions, and LP returns.

What is the J-curve view used for?+

The capital call and distribution schedule provides visibility into the J-curve: early fund cash flows reflect investment and fee outflows, while later realizations and distributions shape the return profile. The dashboard reviews that lifecycle pattern at fund level.

Is this a deal-level LBO model?+

No. It is a fund-level framework that aggregates portfolio activity and reports GP and LP economics across the fund life. Use a deal-level model for a single acquisition’s operating case, financing, and exit mechanics.
